Alexa Traffic Rank

The most important feature of the Alexa toolbar is a figure called Traffic Rank. As opposed to the Google Toolbar PageRank which represents how many quality inbound-links you site has this figure attempts to show how many people are visiting your website.

Each time someone with the Alexa toolbar visits a page the URL is sent to the Alexa Traffic Rank server. The Traffic Rank figure is therefore the relative popularity of your site compared to others in the Alexa database. It is dependent on the limited number of people who use the Alexa toolbar for data. For sites that rank over 100,000 the figure is not very accurate. Simply installing the toolbar on your own browser and surfing your website a bit each day is sufficient to boost your Traffic Rank to around 100,000.
