Toolbars

The major search engines each have their own toolbars, these are extensions to the Internet Explorer web browser. They don't currently work with other browsers. Apart from providing some useful services the aim is to loyalize users to the search engine. Instead of having to go to the search engine's home page users can simply type in the search phrase into a box on the browser window or even the address bar and simply type enter.

One of the best loved features of all the toolbars is a pop-up blocker. This stops irritating windows opening all over the desktop.
